Sarah read music at Selwyn College, Cambridge. As a University Instrumental Award Holder, she studied the cello with Alexander Baillie and Anna Shuttleworth and chamber music with the Endellion Quartet. She continued her studies at the Royal College of Music with a scholarship from the Countess of Munster Scheme. While still a student she won the prestigious Muriel Taylor Competition. Sarah has always pursued a wide range of musical interests. She has been deeply involved in contemporary music since her Purcell Room debut in the 2000 Park Lane Group Series with pianist Huw Watkins. As cellist of the chamber music group Contemporary Consort, she has broadcast live for Radio 3 in the BBC Prom chamber music series and appeared at many festivals including Cheltenham, Kings Lynn and Hampstead and Highgate, performing numerous premieres and commissions. As cellist with The Opera Group and Music Theatre Wales she has been involved in numerous productions. She also plays regularly with orchestras such as Academy of St Martins in the Fields and City of London Sinfonia. On the stage, Sarah has appeared with her close friend, the composer Errollyn Wallen, in her multimedia spectacular 'Jordan Town' which gave its London premiere at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
