Nancy Johnson is a graduate of the Manchester University/Royal Northern College of Music joint course and the Juilliard School, New York. Her teachers include Hilary Hart, Susie Meszaros and Toby Appel and she has performed in masterclasses with Itzhak Perlman, Yitzak Schotten, Thomas Riebl and Diemut Poppen.
Nancy was the violist of the Degas String Quartet, resident quartet at Syracuse University, NY, and has performed chamber music at Carnegie Weill Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the Wigmore Hall, and, with the Young Artists International Chamber Orchestra, in Los Angeles. She has attended the International Musicians Seminar at Prussia Cove, The Salzburg Sommer Akademie, the Sarasota Music Festival, "Soundfest" String Quartet Academy in Massachusetts, and, as a member of the Tavec Quartet, the European Academy for String Quartets in Aix-en-Provence.
Nancy currently freelances in London, performing with the London Symphony Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra and other groups in the UK and abroad. She is a member of Triocca, the Irish based flute, viola and harp ensemble. This year, Triocca were the first Irish group to perform at The Arts House in Singapore and were invited to perform for the European Central Bank in Frankfurt.
